I photograph dance, yoga and movement for teachers, studios and individual performers across the South Hams and Devon. A useful set of images can combine full-body poses, teaching, interaction and details, showing the person as well as the activity.

Whether you are refreshing a website or promoting classes, the starting point is how the photographs will be used. We can plan wide images with room for headings, vertical crops for social media and portraits that introduce the people behind the practice.

Dance and ballet photography

Shape, line and timing all affect a dance photograph. We can work through the movements that matter to you, allowing for repetition and different angles rather than relying on a single frame from a busy class.

The photographs can include individual dancers, small groups, teaching at the barre and wider views of the space. You lead the movement and choose what you are comfortable demonstrating; I work on the composition, light and timing.

Yoga, teaching and bodywork

A yoga gallery can show more than a collection of poses. Images of a teacher explaining a movement, people working together and the setting itself help someone understand what a session involves.

We can combine individual portraits with group practice, partner work and one-to-one bodywork where these are part of your brief. Before the shoot, we will agree who is taking part and what can be photographed, so that the session has a clear plan.

Planning your movement shoot

Tell me about the people involved, your location and where the images need to appear. We will build a short shot list around your priority movements, useful teaching moments and any portraits you need.

Space, available light, clothing, mats and the background all affect the photographs. Planning these together helps the finished set feel consistent. On the day, we can work through the list at a pace that leaves room to repeat a movement or adjust the angle.

Image sizes, crops and usage can be agreed around your website, class listings, social channels or printed material. Include these requirements when you enquire so they form part of the quote.

Planning questions

Tell me what you teach or perform, who will be involved and where the photographs will be used. Include your preferred location and any date you are working towards, and we can discuss a suitable approach.
